GIScience for Resilience (GIResilience)
Research Group
We are a research group that leverages Geospatial Information Science to enhance the Resilience of our society facing threats from recurrent natural hazards and long-lasting climate change.

About Us
Increasingly frequent natural hazards and global environmental changes pose huge challenges to human communities. Meanwhile, human activities are changing the landscape of planet earth. Modeling and predicting human activities and environmental changes, and discovering their complex interactions are the keys to making informed decisions and thereby building a sustainable future.

We delve into the geospatial aspect of the interactions between people and their environments, examining how these interactions shape social-environmental vulnerability and resilience amidst extreme disaster events and climate changes. We synthesize various types of geospatial data to describe, model, and predict human activities and environmental changes, and their complex interactions under the threats posed by recurrent natural hazards and persistent climate changes.
